In my quest to illustrate NW Arkansas and beyond (if you haven't been here, you really should visit), I set my sights on the world-renown art museum, Crystal Bridges.

I've really wanted to expand my illustrations to outside of Fayetteville, so Bentonville seemed like the next logical choice. There's so much to do and see there, Crystal Bridges being chief among them.

This was an especially frustrating project for me. I started this project years ago and ended up taking a very long break from it. 

When I decided to pick it back up again, I knew that this poster had to be different than the others. I finished my first draft and I was at the point where I just wanted to get it printed and move on, but something didn't feel right. Six months later (sigh) I picked it back and tried again. I literally packed up everything on my desk and went out of town for the weekend away from my family so I could finish this!

Within a handful of hours, I finally solved all of the issues that were bugging me. It took a new color scheme and very different textures and brushes than I've used in the past. This is the first illustration I've ever done with these techniques and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
